Live Supervision

Supervision in the moment is an extremely effective and cost efficient method for providing impactful support, feedback and coaching for groups of professional people as they seek to work with or collaborate with other groups. It enables groups to adapt, adjust and try out new ways of working ‘under supervision’. Such situations might arise for project teams, research groups, consultant-client groups, staff-management groups, advisory teams and work-based learning. Typical issues addressed are;

  • trust-building, communication and collaboration
  • hierarchical issues, authority, decision-making
  • cultural diversity and multi-cultural differences
  • misunderstandings and disagreements
  • values and ethics
  • underlying issues that block progress
  • developing professional skills and capabilities
  • lead/manage complexity
For consultancy work, training & development; intervening into client systems and working with complexity.

We provide guidance and support for setting up and running multi-layered group work, then ‘live’ mentoring, coaching and supervisory support when the groups begin their work together.

Big Sur

Case study

A group of six consultants wanted live supervision when working with a client to further their professional skills. They set this up with a medium-sized organisation and called us in to provide live supervision. Working alongside them, we were able to give direct feedback, individually and as a group, based on observations.

Live supervision helped them strengthen their client work by adapting planned interventions or seeking more imaginative and effective ways of working in the immediacy of the work. Both consultancy group and the client group said that this was an intensely rich learning experience.

"The idea of consultant trainees working with us on our development as a business was an excellent idea, it was a mutually beneficial exchange. The consultants showed high professionalism in their delivery, with our management and staff gaining a great deal from their creative and skilful interventions. Thank you againî"
